Gergely Kaposi, conductor (H)
Gergely Kaposi is a leading conductor at the Hungarian State Opera. He was the music director of the Debrecen Csokonai Theater and since 1998 has been the lead conductor for the Ferencváros Summer Performances ...
Building upon the pedagogical foundations established by Kodály and the strong choral traditions of Hungary, Gergely Kaposi’s course will work to prepare the conductor for the rigorous demands that are so often neglected by most conducting schools. Participants will study the chorus as an instrument, focusing on building, perfecting, and tuning, focusing on the physical health of the body and choral singing technique. Understanding will be gained about the essence of working with a chorus, how much to expect from members, and what the choir should expect from the conductor. Other topics will developing rehearsal technique and choral repertoire. Participants will receive coaching while conducting a resident choir.
The course will take place August 2 – 8, 2010.
